We will begin our new school year online. Teams will be the digital platform that we use for teaching. I will incorporate my website plus other tools such as Padlet to deliver instruction. It will be an exciting time for art exploration!
I am excited to embark on our e-learning adventure! Schools have moved online as we navigate the recent coronavirus situation. Please contact me via this site or [email protected] with any questions.
Global Learning and Collaboration: A Key to Student SuccessThis course made me aware of the power of global learning and collaboration. For my students it is a meaningful and engaging way to teach the curriculum while promoting digital citizenship. For myself as an educator it is a path to developing a worlwide connection to a teaching and learning community online. The class project was a great way to model the approach for putting these concepts into action. The book Flattening Classrooms,Engaging Minds providesall the steps neccessary to begin this journey. I am interested to conduct this style of teaching in the fall as i have made plans with another teacher in my county to connect our classrooms. I hope after that to reach out to teachers in other countries as well. In sum, I feel that this course will prove to of great benefit for my students in the years ahead.

Following are reviews of several Wiki entries for the Global Learning and Collaboration Group from:
https://globallearningdesigners.wikispaces.com/ Business Education Team: Students will explore Online Safety and Digital Citizenship. Several multimedia strategies will allow the students to demonstrate their understanding of the issues. The groups will discuss effective engagement across cultures. Higher Education Team: Students will understand and apply 'netiquette' skills across a global platform. The students will communicate with pupils at varius international sites and record their exchanges. The participants ultimately will develop videos offering tips on appropriate 'netiquette' concepts and techniques. Literature Ages 13-15 Team: The students will examine English Language Arts skills from global viewpoints. The pupils will interact digitally via apps and tools via a teacher-led LMS system. The participants will produce lessons to instruct on the best ways to deliver the curriculum using global tips as guidelines. Social Studies Ages 13-15 Team: Pupils will learn about World War 1 and weapons in this project. They will create digital presentations to showcase their understanding of the curriculum while demonstrating global citizenship skills. Professional Development for Teachers Team: Entry level staff and senior executives from across the globe will interact together in a mentorship program. This two year program will involve the participants completing projects to advance to consecutive stages as they gain leadership skills. An outcome of this plan includes development of networking and professional relationships. Considering the wide range of learning opportunities shown here it becomes clear how global learning and collaboration can act as a universal teaching tool. https://globallearningdesigners.wikispaces.com/Special+Education+Ages+6-9 Team Member: Rob Foster This Wiki discusses a plan for cross-cultural learning by students with special needs. The subject area is Art and we will be looking at Seascapes from Japan and the USA. The students will use video exchanges and reflections to share their comments about the pieces. An online whiteboard will permit the groups to develop a Seascape image so that all of the participants can contribute elements to a final collaborative Seascape picture. Tag words: art education, seascape, special needs, exceptional, collaborative learning Will be presenting this summer at county educator conference-just reached out to a fellow UWG grad student with whom I teach and started a conversation about potential collaboration-maybe we can present at our next art conference-also setting up some inter-class Skype lesson activities with another fellow teacher via Twitter-lots going on tech-wise!
Posted on Twitter several pics today of students and art-was able to share info on Twitter with classroom teacher-she saw I was Tweeting and wanted to know how it worked, etc.-found myself giving an impromptu tech lesson in the hallway-she was appreciative-I will follow up n see if can help further as I see her class weekly for art
my teacher Twitter: @RF_AdaptiveArt I've been so busy with teching and grad school projects that keeping up with the blog has fallen behind-learning a lot and will post again soon!
Got set up on Feedly for my RSS source-very happy-can't believe that I never used this tool! Our team meeting is coming up on Friday and I plan to introduce the topic and guide everyone to set up their own RSS feeds-I think we could use it to collaborate on strategies and perhaps even start a group Blog to provide content like the ones I currently subscribe to on Feedly.
